  • What makes me tick…

    2 I get bored easily. I am perpetual motion. If I’m sitting down, my family knows that something must be wrong with me.

    2 If the song was written before 1985, I probably know the words...that includes 50’s and 60’s stuff.

    2 I’m a sucker for a musical. The Sound of Music being my favorite. I can burst into song at the drop of a hat. Just a warning.

    2 I watch two things on TV. The Weather Channel and Glee.

    2 when I was between the ages of 5 & 7, I made my own Barbie’s clothes on the sewing machine, crocheted a blanket for myself and once (with the help of my dad) welded a Barbie table from scrap pieces of aluminum. I was Crafty Cathy then, I am Crafty Cathy now. Engineer’s logic occupying the body of Martha Stewart.

    2 my favorite courses in college...psychology and physics. Can’t really explain it. The course I was just happy to pass in college...Econ 10.  Couldn’t get out of there fast enough.

    2 my degree from UNC-CH was in journalism...advertising copywriting to be specific. Which explains why I can quote most any advertising from the seventies.

    2 I thought I would write for a living, now I tell stories with my camera.

    2 I love the sound of the symphony tuning up before a performance. Gives me goose bumps and can bring tears to my eyes. Makes me wish I had pursued my musical ability further. Can’t go back on that one.

    2 I met my husband on the Carolina senior class cruise. Got off the boat, called my parents and gave them a heads up...gonna be a big wedding...he has four sisters. Knew instantly that he was for me. Hasn’t changed in the 23 years since I’ve known him.

    2 I love to hold the hands of my children...or even better their sweet little feet. Gonna pass on holding my teenager’s feet. Sperry top siders without socks does not a pleasant smell make.

    2 I didn’t think I wanted children. Took me eight years of marriage before I figured out that I did. Now I can’t picture life without my three. They, above all else, define me.

    2 I love what I do and hope that I bring joy into the lives of my clients with my images.

Anna & Stephen {Winston-Salem Family Photographer}

Wow! After a few weeks of R&R, 2012 started off with a shoot to break in the new year. With temps still in the mid-60s each day…why not? Better take advantage of this weather while we have it, for I’m sure colder days are headed our way.

Anna, Stephen and I set out early last week to capture some images of the two of them. It’s a big year for them…Anna is about to graduate from college and Stephen from high school.  Just a perfect opportunity to document their relationship before each of them takes that next big life step.  Love the casual look of this shoot! We had quite the breezy day but these guys made the best of it!

Sarah {Winston-Salem Wedding Photographer}

Photographing a bride as lovely and elegant as Sarah was an absolute dream. She had it down and was so wonderful to work with. So pleased to show off some of the beautiful shots from her session.

Blake {Class of 2012}

Nice to have a young man in front of my camera last week. Blake joined me for an urban shoot to commemorate his high school graduation in a few short months. Love the look for him!

Blake is an entrepreneur who already has his sights on opening his own business after college. Love it! I’m thinking he is sure to succeed.

Jane Ashley {Class of 2012}

What a fun girl to photograph. Jane Ashley is a bubbly senior who loves to act, dance and sing. She is NOT afraid of the camera one bit! Love that about her. With her college plans already in place and pointing her to her parents’ alma mater, LSU, she is enjoying every bit of her senior year. Here are some of the fun and beautiful moments we shared.

Sarah {Class of 2012}

Definitely a favorite for me…spending time with incredible kids from today’s senior class. My afternoon with Sarah was no different. Her’s was a name I had heard hundreds of times. She has danced with my oldest daughter for years and is super involved at the same high school they both attend. But I had never really met her or spent any quality time with her. Well, now I know why everytime her name is mentioned, people gush. Everyone just seems to adore her. And now I get it. She is bright, cute, personable, athletic and kind-hearted…just really an all-around adorable girl. So meet Sarah!

Our last stop of the evening was Sarah’s high school…RJ Reynolds. I love how these kids LOVE this school, particularly its architecture and history. They are so proud to be a part of the legacy that is Reynolds High School and many want to include it in their photos. Sarah even donned black & gold in honor!
